Cover Coveting(8)

It seems like such a long time since I’ve done any kind of “normal post.”  I’ve missed all of the lovely ladies since December!  December?  I can’t believe that it’s been that long.  Here are some of the more recent covers to be released.

Don’t worry, I’m going to go back and post all of the covers I missed.  So expect a number of Cover Coveting Attacks to pop-up.

Kiss the Dead by Laurell K. Hamilton

kiss-the-dead

Amazon: Hardback | Kindle
Goodreads: Kiss the Dead
Source:
Wicked Scribes
Genre: Paranormal Romance (The first 7-8 books are UF)
Series: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter (Book 21)

Shera’s Thoughts:

To be quite honest I really don’t care about the covers for this series anymore. Though I will say this is a vast improvement over the awkward cover from last time and the many weapons and torture tools of the last 10.

Book Description:

When a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it’s up to U.S. Marshal Anita Blake to find her. And when she does, she’s faced with something she’s never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people—kids, grandparents, soccer moms—all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving a master. And where there’s one martyr, there will be more. But even vampires have monsters that they’re afraid of. And Anita is one of them...

Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier

sapphire-blue

Amazon: Hardback | Kindle
Goodreads: Sapphire Blue
Source: Wicked Scribes
Genre: YA Fantasy (Time travel)
Series: Edelstein Trilogie (Book 2)

Shera’s Thoughts:

Stunning!! Just when you think big puffy dresses have got to hit there limits for cover eye candy a new one comes out like this that makes you want to go to an English Soiree all over again.

I love how the dress just pops over the drab London background. (Though this does not mach the first cover at all!)

Book Description:

Gwen’s life has been a rollercoaster since she discovered she was the Ruby, the final member of the secret time-traveling Circle of Twelve. In between searching through history for the other time-travelers and asking for a bit of their blood (gross!), she’s been trying to figure out what all the mysteries and prophecies surrounding the Circle really mean. At least Gwen has plenty of help. Her best friend Lesley follows every lead diligently on the Internet. James the ghost teaches Gwen how to fit in at an eighteenth century party. And Xemerius, the gargoyle demon who has been following Gwen since he caught her kissing Gideon in a church, offers advice on everything. Oh, yes. And of course there is Gideon, the Diamond. One minute he’s very warm indeed; the next he’s freezing cold. Gwen’s not sure what’s going on there, but she’s pretty much destined to find out.

Shera’s Thoughts:

This  series simply suffers from bad covers. This one is just as bad to me. Though the model gets points for looking like Antonio Banderas.

stygians-honor

Amazon: Paperback | Kindle
Goodreads: Stygian's Honor
Source: Wicked Scribes
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Breeds (Book 27)

Shera’s Thoughts:

Saw this in black and white before . . . color is not any better of improvement. Honestly, I’m tired of these covers. Even my squealing six-pack-lov’in self has to say, “Freaking enough!”

Book Description:

Honor Christine Roberts is a living miracle. As a child dying of leukemia, she was cured by a medical giant and now holds the key to survival. If the breeds can convince Liz Caine, daughter of a Navajo Nation council member, to help find her.

Tarnished by Karina Cooper

tarnished

Amazon: Paperback | Kindle
Goodreads: Tarnished
Source: Wicked Scribes
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Series: St. Croix Chronicles (Book 1)

Shera’s Thoughts:

This one leaves me with mixed emotions. It’s really cool, but at the same time it’s just . . . not much.

It’s gritty and bloody which is always a plus. However, it just wouldn’t pop of a shelf to me if I was browsing the bookstore.

Shera’s Thoughts:

This is the coolest cover yet!! It looks like her hair and wings are silver, or maybe granite.  Either way it’s a great looking cover to end off one of YA more popular series.

One last chance...for Max, Fang, and Dylan...before it all ends.
Are you ready for the final chapter? Are you ready for the ultimate flight? Because THIS IS IT. One last incredible, explosive adventure with an astonishing ending that no one could have seen coming.

Shera’s Thoughts:

This cover is haunting. Honestly it’s stunning and the perfect amount of creepy.

Except for the awful clown collar. What were they thinking!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

theravenboys

Amazon: Hardcover |  Kindle
Goodreads: The Raven Boys
Source: ATUF
Genre: Paranormal YA
Series: Raven Cycle (Book 1)

Shera’s Thoughts:

This cover has the feel of the and Epic Fantasy. If you ever walk down the fantasy isle you’ll notice that there is a disturbing amount of EF with white backgrounds and dark figures.

Surprisingly it does well for this book even if it is an over used look.

Book Description:

Filled with mystery, romance, and the supernatural, The Raven Boys introduces readers to Richard “Dick” Campbell Gansey, III and Blue Sargent. Gansey has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on the hunt to find Glendower, a vanished Welsh king. Legend has it that the first person to find him will be granted a wish—either by seeing him open his eyes, or by cutting out his heart.

Blue Sargent, the daughter of the town psychic in Henrietta, Virginia, has been told for as long as she can remember that if she ever kisses her true love, he will die. But she is too practical to believe in things like true love. Her policy is to stay away from the rich boys at the prestigious Aglionby Academy. The boys there—known as Raven Boys—can only mean trouble. When Gansey and his Raven Boy friends come into her life, Blue realizes how true this is. She never thought her fortune would be a problem. But she was wrong.
