Yeah! The first Cover Coveting of the year! There are some pretty ones. Oh, so pretty.

The New Year doesn’t officially kickoff until the yummy new covers come in.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

a-court-of-thorns-and-roses Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: N/A

Shera’s thoughts:

Um, wow!!! This is what I love! That crazy dress, not seeing the characters whole face. Just nose and lips, that’s the key. The background is simple, but its composition is perfect to balance the cover and give it just the right drama.

The thorns and vines are great, and I love the typography.

Basically perfection.

Beastkeeper by Cat Hellisen

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

beastkeeper Series: N/A

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: YA Fantasy (Fairy Tale retelling)

Shera’s thoughts:

Yeah! Another beauty! The black with that subtle gradient makes for a wonderful silhouette cover.

It’s perfect for a fairy tale retelling, especially a twist on Beauty and the Beast.

Between a Vamp and a Hard Place by Jessica Sims

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

between-a-vamp-and-a-hard-place Series: Midnight Liaisons, book 5

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

Again . . . same old paranormal romance couple composition. I know people mocked the first couple covers in the Immortals After Dark series, but they were unique. Personally I thought they were steamy.

Again I don’t like it when the authors name is bigger than the title, or at least takes from it.

Binding Ties by Shannon K. Butcher

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

binding-ties Series: Sentinel Wars, book 9

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

Hmmmm. No. Fits the series well.

Court of Fives by Kate Elliott

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

court-of-fives Series: Court of Fives, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: YA Epic Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Oooo, just cool. While I find that maze circle thing to be a bit to bright. Everything else is great. Classic Epic Fantasy cover. Hmmmmm.

Dragon Fall by Katie MacAlister

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

dragon-fall Series: Black Dragons, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

Oh, another shirtless male cover with a a tattoo. No.

Entranced by Jessica Sorensen

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

entranced Series: Gaurdians Academy, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal New Adult

Shera’s thoughts:

Oh, so pretty. Clever to have the moon (I think it’s the moon) on top of everything, and the partical effect is nice.

The colors, trees, and water is beautiful. The typography is perfectly placed. Well done!

Half-Resurrection Blues by Daniel José Older

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

half-resurrection-blues Series: Bone Street Rumba, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

Yes-yes-yes-yes-yes-yes-yes-yes-yes-yes! . . . . Yes!

This is what I want! The kind of poor man’s suit is so sexy and he looks badass. It’s gritty and screams urban fantasy.

The skew of the title and series typography is awesome.

Can’t wait for this book!

Heat of the Moment by Lori Handeland

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

heat-of-the-moment Series: The Summer of Witches, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Paranormal Romance

Shera’s thoughts:

All right I have a thing for fire and ice covers. This one is well done. The background is cool, and I like that the woman fits well. But she stands out. I especially like the hint of strap and her green eyes.

Hellbender by Dana Cameron

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

hellbender Series: Fangborn, book 3

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

So gritty!! I love that hint of monster around the ages of the cover. And it’s nice to see a woman holding a sword on the cover that doesn’t look like she’s doing torture yoga.

Hold Me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

hold-me-like-a-breath Series: Once Upon a Crime Family, book 1

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Thriller

Shera’s thoughts:

Oooo, pretty. There are so many elements her that by themselves would be tacky. Her it’s cover magic.

Really like what’s going on with the butterfly and the spatter/breaking down of it. It really makes the font pop.

I Am Her Revenge by Meredith Moore

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

I-Am-Her-Revenge Series: N/A

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Mystery Thriller

Shera’s thoughts:

It’s strange . . . this cover is amazing! Until I focus to much on the tacky boarding school. They should have did something else. But it’s still nice if you don’t focus to hard on it.

However, the author’s type needs a different color. Honestly I can’t read it.

Ignite by Sara B. Larson

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

ignite Series: Defy, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

It’s cheesy, but so cool! What kind of tip is that on the arrow? A magic one?

Fits the series well. Makes me wonder what weapon will be on the next ones!

Infinity Bell by Devon Monk

Previous book(s) in series:

Goodreads | Amazon

infinity-bell Series: House Immortal, book 2

Add it: Goodreads | Amazon
Genre: Urban Fantasy

Shera’s thoughts:

This cover screams sci-fi to me. it’s still totally awesome. I’m digging the outfit. It’s comfy fight get up and it’s pretty darn sexy if I do say so.
