Wednesday Wishes

So on my Cover Coveting post Monday I mentioned what a hard time I was having finding some new epic fantasy covers. Now I’m having a hard time finding new series to pick up. None are really interesting me, just my favorite authors and those on going series.

Oh, well. I still found some books to lust after.

This Song Will Save Your Life by Leila Sales

This Song Will Save Your LifeGet it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Young Adult Contemporary
Series: N/A

Making friends has never been Elise Dembowski’s strong suit. All throughout her life, she’s been the butt of every joke and the outsider in every conversation. When a final attempt at popularity fails, Elise nearly gives up. Then she stumbles upon a warehouse party where she meets Vicky, a girl in a band who accepts her; Char, a cute, yet mysterious disc jockey; Pippa, a carefree spirit from England; and most importantly, a love for DJing.

Told in a refreshingly genuine and laugh-out-loud funny voice, This Song Will Save Your Life is an exuberant novel about identity, friendship, and the power of music to bring people together.

Every once in a while I need a non-fantasy book to liven things up a bit in my reading life. This had promising reviews from some of my trusted GR friends, so why not!

Silver in the Blood by Jessica Day George

Silver in the BloodGet it: Amazon | Goodreads
Genre: Paranormal Young Adult
Series: Silver in the Blood, book 1

A New York Times bestselling author brings dark secrets to life in a lush new YA perfect for fans of Libba Bray or Cassandra Clare.

Society girls from New York City circa 1890, Dacia and Lou never desired to know more about their lineage, instead preferring to gossip about the mysterious Romanian family that they barely knew. But upon turning seventeen, the girls must return to their homeland to meet their relatives, find proper husbands, and—most terrifyingly—learn the deep family secrets of The Claw, The Wing, and The Smoke. The Florescus, after all, are shape-shifters, and it is time for Dacia and Lou to fulfill the prophecy that demands their acceptance of this fate... or fight against this cruel inheritance with all their might.

With a gorgeous Romanian setting, stunning Parisian gowns, and dark brooding young men, readers will be swept up by this epic adventure of two girls in a battle for their lives.

I adore George’s Dragon Slipper books! So I am beyond thrilled at the idea of her writing a paranormal/UF book.
